Internet Detective of the Day: NYC resident Sean Power just recovered his stolen MacBook Pro using tracking app Prey. Once the thief turned on the computer, Power started livetweeting everything he saw, including webcam pics of the culprit and the location of the laptop.
Power was out of town, so some of his Twitter friends — aided by a mysterious “girl in a purple sarong” — moved in and retrieved the laptop. Getting to be a real-life spy probably doesn’t make up for the stress of having a computer stolen, but I’ll bet it makes recovering the goods that much sweeter.
