Anonymous Splinter Group of the Day: Last week, internet vigilante group Anonymous was fighting amongst itself over control of AnonOps IRC channels where anonymous missions are planned.
While a core group of AnonOps admins are fighting back against “Ryan,” the rogue operator who hijacked the channels, another group has decided to very publicly split from Anonymous.
Barrett Brown, possibly the least anonymous of all Anonymous spokesmen, is one of the new group’s leaders, and he says he’s “tired of the drama” and done with the “kids fighting for control of an IRC channel.”
Brown’s new organization, Project PM, aims to “improve the distribution of accurate and informative news, couple journalists with scientists in order to make useful information more readily available to the masses, and to help develop undeveloped regions of Africa with as much efficiency as attainable.”
Okay, that sounds good, but where do the lulz come in?
