Nook Upgrade of the Day

Nook Upgrade of the Day

Nook Upgrade of the Day Barnes and Noble’s latest version of the Nook e-reader gives Amazon’s Kindle a run for its money, at least on paper.

It has the same 6″ E Ink Pearl display as the Kindle, but this one’s a touchscreen. The Nook does away with the physical keyboard, allowing B&N to boast that their device has 37 fewer buttons than Amazon’s. It’s also one ounce lighter. The Nook also has a 2-month battery life to the Kindle’s 1 month. Of course, B&N still has to compete with the Kindle’s enormous 950,000-book library and cross-platform syncing.

The Nook ships June 10th, priced at $139. That’s the same price as a regular Kindle, but still more expensive than the ad-supported Kindle with Special Offers. B&N has already dropped the price on current-gen Nooks, which will be discontinued to make way for the shiny new one.
