X-Wing Soapbox Derby Car of the Day: This soapbox derby car is outfitted to look just like an X-Wing fighter, complete with a spinning, beeping R2 unit in the back, controlled by an NES controller.
The wings might not make for the most aerodynamic design, but everything about this car meets soapbox derby regulations. The driver’s helmet even looks like an X-Wing pilot’s helmet, and the nose cone flips up to reveal an eyehook used to tow the car back up the hill.
The X-Wing didn’t make it out of the first round at the Nazareth, PA Adult Soapbox Derby, but there’s no doubt it was the geekiest soapbox car ever to rise of out a Dagobah swamp.
