Hobbit Titles and Release Dates of the Day: The two-part movie adaptation of The Hobbit now has its official release dates and titles.
According to the press release:
The first film, titled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will be released on December 14, 2012. The second film, titled The Hobbit: There and Back Again, is slated for release the following year, on December 13, 2013.
The press release also mentions returning Lord of the Rings stars and listed ensemble cast members (including Stephen Fry), but the only major new character listed was Martin Freeman’s Frodo.
Missing from the ensemble list is Freeman’s Sherlock castmate Benedict Cumberbatch, who Freeman last week accidentally announced would be joining The Hobbit. That would suggest Cumberbatch has a major part in the movies, which is further fuel for those speculating that he might play Bard the Bowman.
