Stolen MacBook of the Day: A guy who had his MacBook stolen decided to start a Tumblr site to post webcam shots of the thief, courtesy of “the awesome app, Hidden.”
While he could be a legitimate theft victim, this comes less than a month after someone used Hidden’s free, open-source competitor, Prey, to track a stolen MacBook live on Twitter. Maybe Hidden just wanted to buy the same kind of publicity Prey got for free.
In the “this might be legit” column: the victim, Joshua Kaufman, tweeted about the theft when it happened back in March, and posted some pictures from Hidden on his Flickr account shortly afterward. The brand-new Tumblr may just have been inspired by the recent MacBook recovery tweetathon.
