E3 Zelda News of the Day

E3 Zelda News of the Day

E3 Zelda News of the Day: The Legend of Zelda got plenty of stage time at Nintendo’s E3 presentation today, with announcements about the upcoming Skyward Sword, a free download of Four Swords for DSi, and events and goodies to celebrate Zelda’s 25th anniversary.

The heavily anticipated Skyward Sword is due out for Wii this winter, along with a limited-edition gold Wiimote. Shigeru Miyamoto showed off a brand new trailer for the game, including what looked like Zelda and Link riding giant birds.

The free Four Swords DSi download is coming this September, but Nintendo hasn’t said whether it will be the GBA version, the GameCube version, or an entirely new game.

There’s also some big Zelda music news: Skyward Sword’s release will be accompanied by a Zelda 25th Anniversary orchestral soundtrack, and gamers who register the 3DS version of Ocarina of Time will get a free Ocarina of Time soundtrack.

Zelda-themed orchestral concerts are also being scheduled around the world starting this fall. The dates and locations aren’t out yet, so keep an eye out to see if one is coming to your city.

After the jump: the aforementioned Skyward Sword footage.
