Wii U of the Day: Nintendo has unveiled its Wii successor at E3. It’s called the Wii U, and it sports a new controller that provides a 6.2″ touchscreen and a bunch of new ways to interact with games.
You can point the controller’s camera at your TV screen to get new views for Wii games, or play it as a TV-free standalone device. The controller also features a microphone, a gyroscope, a drawing stylus and video calling.
A handful of Wii U games have been announced, as well, including a Tekken title, Assassin’s Creed and Batman: Arkham City.
It’ll also be backward compatible with the current generation of Wii accessories, including the Wii Fit.
Wii U is due out sometime in 2012.
Check out a trailer and the E3 demo after the jump.
