Pop Cap Acquisition Rumor of the Day: Reports came out yesterday that Pop Cap Games — of Bejeweled and Plants vs. Zombies fame — had an acquisition offer of over $1 billion. Today, TechCrunch is reporting that the potential buyer might be EA.
A billion dollars would be a big investment in casual gaming for EA, representing 14% of the company’s market cap. Pop Cap has teamed with EA for distribution in the past, so the two companies already have a relationship.
