Flash to HTML5 Converter of the Day: Although it was somewhat overshadowed by the debut of Google+, Google’s Swiffy Flash-to-HTML5 conversion tool also launched this week.
Swiffy takes SWF (Flash) files and renders them in HTML, CSS and vector graphics, resulting in a file that can be played on non-Flash-equipped devices like Apple’s iPhone and iPad.
The good news: games and animations won’t be trapped in Flash forever. The bad news: Neither will ads. Expect Swiffy to enable animated ad creators to reach you even on your iDevice.
Swiffy is currently in Google Labs, but may eventually become an open source project.
