Archie Spinoff of the Day: Kevin Keller became the first openly gay character in Archie Comics history earlier this year, and now he’s slated for a starring role in his own ongoing series.
Writer Dan Parent says Kevin Keller will follow Kevin’s life at Riverdale High, his relationship with his military father (who he idolizes) and “some adversity he’ll have to deal with.”
The adult version of Kevin will also be getting married in early 2012 in Life With Archie, the series that shows the Riverdale gang as grownups.
“We needed to figure out how to get Kevin into that book and, frankly, not sidestep the issue,” said Archie Comics co-chief Jon Goldwater.
