Water in Space of the Day: Astronomers have discovered the largest and most distant reservoir of water ever detected, 140 trillion times the amount of water in the Earth’s oceans.
The enormous reservoir surrounds a quasar over 12 billion light-years away, powered by a black hole 20 billion times more massive than the sun. With that much water vapor, along with other gases surrounding the quasar, the black hole could grow six times bigger.
