Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s Cosmos of the Day: Cosmos, Carl Sagan’s beloved 13-episode exploration of the universe and our place in it, is about to get an update.
The new series, starring astrophysicist and Nova ScienceNOW host Neil DeGrasse Tyson, will bring Cosmos up to speed with the developments in science since it first aired in 1980.
The show has some unlikely champions: it’s produced by Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane, and scheduled to air in prime time on Fox, rather than on PBS or Discovery.
How the shift to a major network will affect the show remains to be seen, but McFarlane and Tyson have quite a while to figure it out: the new Cosmos won’t start airing til 2013.
