Web Browsing Study of the Day

Web Browsing Study of the Day

Web Browsing Study of the Day: A new study out of the National University of Singapore reveals that slacking off on the web at work may actually increase productivity.

The study, “Impact of Cyberloafing on Psychological Engagement,” involved three groups doing the same repetitive task — highlighting the letter “e” in documents. Each group took a 10 minute break to either rest, work on another simple task, or browse the web. The browsing group came back more productive than the other two.

“Browsing the Internet serves an important restorative function,” said authors Don J.Q. Chen and Vivien K.G. Lim.

Well, now I know what I’m doing for the next 10 minutes all day.
