Lost iPhone 5 Prototype of the Day: An iPhone 5 prototype was recently lost in a California bar, and Apple is currently working to get it back. If that sounds familiar, it’s because the same thing happened last year, when an Apple employee misplaced an unreleased iPhone 4 that was later sold to tech blog Gizmodo.
In this year’s case, the iPhone 5 was lost at a Mexican restaurant in San Francisco, and Apple ran down one lead based on the phone’s GPS, but the suspect denied knowing anything about the phone. No details about the device have leaked, but it’s possible that it’s disguised as an iPhone 4.
According to CNET, the phone may have been sold on Craiglist for $200. It seems whoever found it either didn’t know what it was or didn’t want to face charges, like the men who brokered the Gizmodo deal last year.
San Francisco Police say that Apple hasn’t filed a report.
