Follow Up of the Day: Qwikster Twitter Account Owner Wants To Make Serious Bank

Follow Up of the Day: Qwikster Twitter Account Owner Wants Six Figures

Follow Up of the Day: Jason Castillo, the teenager whose @qwikster Twitter account happens to share a name with Netflix’s newly-separated DVD-by-mail business, appears to have realized what he’s sitting on and now wants to “make bank” by selling it to the company.

Yesterday, Castillo said he was offered $1000 (presumably by a third party), but now he’s realized he may be able to get a lot more than that. He’s even taken down his infamous weed-smoking Elmo profile image in hopes of being taken more seriously.

Twitter’s terms of service might not allow @qwikster to sell his account, though. One section reads:

Unless you have been specifically permitted to do so in a separate agreement with Twitter, you agree that you will not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, trade or resell the Services for any purpose …

So, even if Qwikster did offer Castillo a huge amount of money for the account, they’d have to get the deal approved by Twitter or risk having the handle taken away.
