First-Ever Camera Phone Photo of the Day

First-Ever Camera Phone Photo of the Day: Way before cameras were a standard feature on practically every cell phone, Philippe Kahn hacked together a phone and a digital camera to shoot and transmit a photo of his newborn daughter in a maternity ward.

That photo, taken on June 11, 1997, is considered the world’s first camera phone photograph. Almost 15 years later, Kahn’s company, LightSurf, still provides the camera technology for Sprint, Verizon, and other cell carriers around the world.
