Doctor Who Confidential Cancellation of the Day: The BBC announced that it has cancelled Doctor Who Confidential, the behind-the-scenes show that follows each episode of Doctor Who. The final episode will air this Saturday.
A BBC spokeswoman said, “Doctor Who Confidential has been a great show for BBC3 over the years, but our priority now is to build on original British commissions, unique to the channel.”
The real motivation, though, is probably the BBC’s goal of cutting its budget by 20%.
Fans are understandably upset at the cancellation of DWC, which has been running since Doctor Who rebooted in 2005, but the show is going out on a high note. The series finale will feature the premiere of “Death is the Only Answer,” the mini-adventure that Confidential has been teasing all season, and Alex Kingston’s definitive timeline of River Song.
