Sesame Street Does Engineering of the Day: Sesame Street, now entering its 42nd season, is refocusing its curriculum on math, science and engineering.
The show’s executive producer, Carol-Lynn Parente, says that preschool kids are ready for engineering segments on Sesame Street. “It really boils down to a curriculum of asking questions, observing … making a hypothesis and testing it out,” she told ABC News.
Researchers say watching Sesame Street as a preschooler correlates with higher grades later in life, so increasing the math and science portions of the show could actually help U.S. students improve in those areas.
After the jump: a sneak peek at one of the show’s new recurring segments, science experiments with Murray the Monster.
