Leaning Tower of London of the Day

Leaning Clock Tower of the Day

Leaning Tower of London of the Day: London’s famous Big Ben has now tilted enough that its lean is noticeable to the naked eye.

The top of the tower is now one and a half feet off from perpendicular, according to The Telegraph. That means Big Ben could eventually fall, but at the current rate of tilt, it will take 4,000 years to reach the angle of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and even longer to collapse.

The tilt is caused by the tower settling into the ground unevenly, sinking faster on the north side than the south.
