Poop-Scooping Robot of the Day: The versatile PR2 robot, known for baking cookies and fetching sandwiches, can now pick up poop, too, thanks to the University of Pennsylvania’s GRASP Lab.
Penn’s Perception Of Offensive Products and Sensorized Control Of Object Pickup (POOPSCOOP) project taught a PR2 called “Graspy” how to detect and scoop up “offensive objects” and put them in a bucket.
That’s a cool trick, but it would be cooler if they equipped it to incinerate the poop, too.
