Battlestar Galactica Movie News of the Day

Battlestar Galactica Movie News of the Day: Universal Pictures is reportedly close to signing writer John Orloff to script a big-screen adaptation of the 1978 Battlestar Galactica series.

Orloff won an Emmy for HBO’s Band of Brothers, and more recently wrote the Shakespeare conspiracy theory pic Anonymous. More importantly, he’s a longtime BSG fan.

“I have wanted to write this movie since I was 12 years old, and built a Galactica model from scratch out of balsa wood, cardboard, old model parts and LEDs,” Orloff said. “I love BSG, and I would pass on the job rather than frak it up.”

Signing a top writer could also help Universal land director Bryan Singer, who’s been talking about doing a BSG movie for years. Singer will be free to work on the project once he finishes his current gig, directing Jack the Giant Killer.
