Siri for Android of the Day: The developers at Dexetra have responded to Apple’s Siri personal assistant app with an Android voice-controlled assistant of their own: it’s called Iris. (Siri backwards? I see what you did there.)
Although Iris isn’t quite as refined as Siri, it’s off to a pretty good start (especially considering that the first version took just 8 hours of development time).
Slashgear took Iris for a test drive and found it did better on some questions than others: it nailed “what is Android?” and “What is the time in Hong Kong?” but somehow botched “14 + 3″ and failed to open a website.
The point isn’t whether Iris actually works as well as Siri, though. It’s that Apple had better consider porting their digital assistant to Android before someone else does it for them.
