
Strawberries vs. Alcohol Study of the Day: Strawberries help protect the stomach from damage caused by alcohol, according to a study by Italian, Serbian and Spanish researchers published in Plos One.
Due to their high antioxidant capacity and ability to activate the antioxidant defenses of the body, strawberries are a good defense against mucous membrane damage. Rats who consumed strawberries for 10 days before being given alcohol showed a reduction in stomach ulcerations.
Unfortunately, strawberries don’t mitigate the effects of getting drunk. But hey, not having stomach ulcers is good, too.
