Walking Robot of the Day: The Sano Laboratory at Japan’s Nagoya Institute of Technology has constructed a robot that walks using only its own weight.
The bot needs a push to get started, but otherwise requires no help. It doesn’t use motors, sensors or electricity. Last year, it picked up a Guinness World Record for walking 13 hours nonstop.
The lab is working on a commercial version of the ‘bot, due out in 1-2 years, that could be used in sports or to aid people who need walking assistance.
