Internet Political Statement of the Day: Filmmaker Kirby Ferguson took a break from his successful “Everything is a Remix” video series to create a video opposing the PROTECT-IP act, which would give congress and the entertainment industry broad powers to shut down websites and, as Ferguson puts it, “break the Internet.”
PROTECT-IP is the Senate’s version of the E-Parasite Act, a very similar House bill that’s currently being opposed by a popular Internet petition.
Kirby’s created his video on behalf of Fight for the Future, an organization that opposes both bills and also happens to be behind the Free Justin Bieber campaign against a third piece of anti-Internet legislation, the Felony Streaming Bill.
