Virtual Dinosaurs of the Day: Thanks to a little augmented reality magic from National Geographic and a UK firm called Appshaker, visitors to a mall in Hungary were treated to a show of virtual dinosaurs, astronauts, leopards and more.
Shoppers who stood on a marked spot on the mall saw the creatures come to life on a giant screen — much bigger than the tiny smartphone displays to which augmented reality is usually confined.
Although you can’t actually touch AR constructs (yet), you can definitely take a picture of yourself with them on a giant screen and post it to Facebook, which a lot of people reportedly did.
