Sixth-Grade iPhone Developer of the Day

Sixth-Grade iPhone Developer of the Day: Thomas Suarez is only in 6th grade, but he’s already created two apps for Apple’s iOS App Store and founded an “app club” for other aspiring developers at his middle school.

Suarez shared his experience in a talk at an education-focused TEDx event in Manhattan Beach, CA.

He introduced his apps — a fortune teller called Earth Fortune and a Justin Bieber whac-a-mole game called Bustin’ Jieber — and talked about the challenges of getting started in app development in a world where kids know more about technology than most of the adults in their lives.

Next, he plans to finish a project he’s working on with a third-party development company, and then make his first Android app.
