Chrome Overtakes Firefox of the Day: Google’s Chrome browser has overtaken Mozilla’s Firefox in worldwide market share for the first time, according to the latest report from analytics company StatCounter.
Chrome now has 25.69% of the global browser market, with Firefox at 25.23%. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer remains at the top of the heap with 40.63% of the market.
If Chrome maintains its rapid growth — it’s up nearly 7% in the US market over the past year — Google could challenge Microsoft’s lead in the browser market. IE gained less than 1% in the US during the same period.
