Apple Fined for Misleading Customers of the Day

Apple Fined for Misleading Customers of the Day: Apple has been fined $1.2 million by Italy’s Antitrust Authority for misleading customers about its Applecare Protection Plan.

Italy guarantees the right to two years of technical support, a fact that Apple apparently failed to mention before selling customers on its own extended warranty. The Antitrust Authority said that by failing to fully inform people of the law, Apple “induced consumers to sign an additional contract.”

Apple will now have to publish the relevant part of the ruling on its website, and add details about Italy’s two-year service guarantee to its Applecare plan.
