iPad Passport of the Day: Canadian citizen Martin Reisch forgot his passport before he headed out on a trip to the U.S., but he was able to cross the border anyway … using his iPad.
Although Reisch had left the paper passport at home, he had a digital copy on his tablet, which was good enough to get him into — and back out of — the U.S.
This probably wouldn’t work every time, though. The border agents were just in the holiday spirit, and allowed Reisch to pass because he was on his way to deliver Christmas presents to a friend’s kids.
Digital passports will happen eventually — once they include security measures that can’t be defeated using Photoshop — but for right now, you might need a Christmas miracle to get across the border with your iPad.
