Cancelled Steve Jobs Action Figure of the Day

Cancelled Steve Jobs Action Figure of the Day

Cancelled Steve Jobs Action Figure of the Day: In Icons, the Hong Kong firm behind an eerily realistic Steve Jobs action figure, has cancelled production of the toy in the face of legal threats from Apple and Jobs’ family.

“Though we still believe that we have not overstepped any legal boundaries, we have decided to completely stop the offer, production and sale of the Steve Jobs figurine out of our heartfelt sensitivity to the feelings of the Jobs family,” said Tandy Cheung of In Icons.

The company had hoped to avoid legal trouble by making sure not to give the action figure any Apple accessories, but the use of Jobs’ likeness proved controversial.

According to PCWorld, it’s unclear who would have won if it had come down to a court battle between Apple and In Icons, and it’s possible the figure would have been legal to sell in some jurisdictions and not others.
