Another Follow Up of the Day:: Samantha Garvey, the homeless Brentwood, NY, teenager whose marine biology research earned her a semifinal spot in the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search, has been invited to Washington, DC to attend President Obama’s State of the Union Address.
Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY) extended the invitation to Garvey, and her father says she intends to accept.
“She can’t wait. She deserves it. She needs to meet people like that,” he said.
More importantly, Suffolk County officials found a three-bedroom home for Garvey and her family, and an anonymous benefactor saved her dog, who had been in a pound since the family became homeless last year, from being euthanized.
