Swizz Tweet of the Day: Hip-hop megaproducer and Megaupload CEO Swizz Beatz hasn’t posted to Twitter since news broke of his site’s shuttering by the feds, but his last tweet is unwittingly ironic given the circumstance.
“Blessings,” Mr. Beatz wrote above an Instagram photo of a fortune cookie message that reads “your kindness will lead you to happiness.” Oof.
Although Swizzy wasn’t named in the indictment, and doesn’t appear to own a stake in Megaupload, the company was likely very kind to him after he helped make a star-studded “Mega Song” music video for them. According to Forbes, the super-producer has similar partnerships with Lotus and Reebok.
Perhaps joining Megaupload too late to grab a share of the company helped Swizzy dodge some serious legal trouble. That would be a blessing.
