File Sharing Shakeup of the Day: In the wake of file sharing site Megaupload being shuttered by the U.S. Justice Department, several similar file lockers have shut down or limited their services to protect against a similar fate.
FileSonic, perhaps the best-known of the bunch, has disabled sharing and now only allows users to download files they’ve uploaded themselves. It has also apparently deleted its Facebook page.
Across the web, other sites are taking similar actions. Uploaded.to has blocked U.S. access and FileServe has stopped sharing entirely, among others.
Two of the largest remaining file lockers, Rapidshare and Mediafire, seem to be operating as normal.
