Cancelled BlizzCon of the Day: Blizzard has announced that its annual convention, Blizzcon, will skip 2012 and return in 2013.
Instead, the company has decided to sink its time and financial resources into finishing Diablo III and the next expansions for World of Warcraft and StarCraft II.
Blizz says it will also focus on eSports, including the Battle.net World Championship, which will take place in Asia near the end of 2012 and feature the world’s top StarCraft II and World of Warcraft Arena players.
The cancellation also lets Blizzard take a year off from a convention that was criticized in 2011 for homophobic remarks by speakers and widespread abuse of WoW Alliance players by Horde players.
