Netflix Kills Game Rental Plan of the Day: Netflix has abandoned a plan to add game rentals to its existing DVD-by-mail service, CEO Reed Hastings said today in a conference call with investors.
The plan was announced back in September, along with the failed rebranding of Netflix’s delivery service as “Qwikster.”
“Members have been asking for video games for many years, and now that DVD by mail has its own team, we are finally getting it done,” Hastings said at the time.
A month later, after Qwikstergate, Hastings said the company has “yet to decide” whether to deliver Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii games by mail.
