Kinect-Powered Theme Park of the Day: A Korean entertainment company called d’strict has launched a theme park full of interactive exhibits powered by Kinect sensors.
Visitors to the “Live Park 4D World Tour,” currently open in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, wear RFID bracelets that allow the exhibits to identify them, and many of the attractions involve controlling virtual avatars via Kinect.
Avatar-based activities include walking through a virtual story with multiple endings, playing games on a 492-foot-wide screen, and putting on an augmented-reality stage performance. At night, the entire park turns into a party with DJs and live performances.
“World Tour” is still a misnomer for now, but the park has been so successful that d’strict is going to keep it open, and create permanent installations in China and Singapore, with eventual plans for overseas expansion.
Check out a video after the jump.
