Space: 2099 Reboot of the Day

Space: 2099 Reboot of the Day

Space: 2099 Reboot of the Day: 1970s space franchise Space: 2099 — originally called Space: 1999 — is returning to TV courtesy of ITV Studios America and HDFilms, the company that rebooted V for ABC.

The show starred Martin Landau and Barbara Bain as crewmembers of the space research station Moonbase Alpha, fighting for survival after an explosion knocked the moon into deep space. Aboard the runaway moon, they encountered new alien species and weird phenomena.

“While we are indeed re-imagining the franchise and bringing something new and relevant to today’s audiences,” HDFilms’ Jace Hall said, “I feel strongly that some of the overall tones set by the original Space: 1999 television show represent an exciting platform to explore possibilities.”

If the overall tone he’s referring to is the one set by Space: 1999‘s funky intro, sign me up. Check it out after the jump.
