Playboy Club in Space of the Day

Playboy Club in Space of the Day

Playboy Club in Space of the Day: Playboy has released plans to send one of its famous men’s clubs into space, with a little help from private spaceflight company Virgin Galactic.

Although an orbital restaurant/dance floor/swingers’ club is still a long way from becoming a reality, Playboy consulted with Virgin Galactic head designer Adam Wells before writing up the plans for the Playboy Club in Space, which appear in the magazine’s March issue.

Artist Thomas Tenery provided concept drawings of the orbital club’s features, including a restaurant that rotates to create artificial gravity and keep the food from floating away.

Of course, the food wouldn’t be the main selling point. Other attractions would include zero-gravity “human roulette,” where players act as the roulette ball, and (of course) an “orbital pleasure dome.”

“The entire Kama Sutra will have to be reimagined according to the rules of zero-gravity physics,” Playboy claims.

The station is just a fantasy right now, but there’s no telling what Hugh Hefner and Richard Branson could do once Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo has a few successful flights under its belt. Test flights of the spacecraft are expected later this year.
