Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner recently rediscovered the source code for his original Apple II version of the game, release back in 1989. Mechner’s dad found the game on a set of Apple ProDOS disks hidden away in a cardboard box along with Amstrad versions of his other games, POP and Karateka.
Mechner says he had been searching for those original source disks off and on for 10 years, and he plans to begin working with “a digital-archaeology-minded friend” to port the ancient source code the modern Mac platform.
He’ll be posting updates on his blog as the project progresses.
